Sarah Bell's Watercolour Workshops - title image
Introducing Sarah Bell Sarah Bell is a Devon based artist whose paintings are a celebration of light and colour, with subject matter often featuring her beloved Mediterranean, or scenes closer to home; the coast of Devon and Cornwall, the chickens and ducks at Sampsons Farm, and animals at friends' farms. Nudes and fashion illustration are also other great favourites of hers: why not have a browse through the online gallery of original paintings and prints?

Born and brought up in Lancashire, Sarah first started painting as a child, following her father, also an artist, up onto the Lancashire moors, armed with rucksacks filled with watercolour boxes and packed lunches, to paint the hills and farmyards in the countryside. Sarah trained as an illustrator at Kingston University in Surrey in the late 1980's, and then worked as Artist in Residence for Kenneth Branagh's Renaissance theatre company. She then moved to Amsterdam, where she worked as a freelance illustrator for international clients for nine years.

On moving to Devon she began teaching her popular Watercolour Workshops, continues her illustration work featured on the Country Lives series on ITV, and in Devon Today magazine. She also wrote and illustrated her Country Tales column for Devon Life magazine for five years, and last year she was to be seen painting at Lustleigh Show on ITV's Arts & Crafts series.

Sarah now paints and illustrates full time at her studio in Devon Square, Newton Abbot, and on location around Devon and Cornwall, and her paintings can be seen all year round at Sampsons Farm Hotel, where she also teaches her popular Watercolour Workshops.
