Yes, it’s perfectly possible!
If you have a pet, have you ever wished you could paint a picture of it (that actually looks like it!)? I love painting portraits of pets, both my own and commissions from other people, and in this pet portrait workshop, I’ll be showing you some of my tips for getting a good likeness, colour mixing and matching, and creating shiny and furry textures. And of course, the eyes!

What you’ll learn:
How to get a great likeness without being able to draw. Would you really like to do this workshop but are you scared that you can’t draw? Not necessary…
I’ll show you an Illustrators secret for solving that: a MUCH easier way of tracing than the traditional one, which solves that problem instantly and let’s concentrate on the colour and painting part.
All you need to do if you sign up for this course is to send me two good photos of your pet and I’ll print them out ready for you to trace. Of course, if you DO like to draw you can draw it yourself, too.…
Colour Mixing
I’ll show you how to mix the colours you need using just four or five tubes, keeping it nice and simple.
Textures
I’ll show you how to simplify painting fur: whether its shaggy or shiny, using wet in
wet, and wet in dry techniques.
Painting eyes
Lots of people find their animal portraits disappointing because they think, “The eyes
don’t look real”. I’ll show you how to make the eyes look round, and sparkling with
life, with highlights and reflections.
What’s included?
I provide you with all the art materials you need for your course, plus hot drinks on tap whenever you like. It’ll be an exciting day, and I’ll be giving frequent demonstrations and explanations throughout to support you. You’ll go home with your own watercolour pet portrait, lots of new watercolour knowledge, an essential handout describing what you did for future reference, and very importantly, a huge sense of inspiration and achievement!
