Seaweed collecting, pressing, and sketching £165pp (Cornwall)

  • Union Hote Chapel St TR18 4AE United Kingdom (map)

Imagine the first morning of our seaweed weekend: we’ll stroll down to the beach at Penzance. It’ll be low tide... Perfect conditions for seaweed hunting!

You’ll collect and learn about different varieties of local seaweed, then we'll head back to the hotel for hot coffee and get down to work…

You’ll learn how to:

·       photograph seaweed it in motion, as it looks underwater

·       press and preserve it to use for display and greetings cards,

·       how paint it using super-easy watercolour pencils.

You’ll be so relaxed you’ll be in the zone and almost be floating an inch or two above ground….

You can take home your new seaweed watercolours , and also your seaweed pressings, which will be ready after a couple of weeks ready to create your own “Victorian “ seaweed album.

Sarah is a wonderful teacher – she does lots of demonstrating and guides you through all the basics of watercolour painting, so that you feel confident that you can actually paint … with paints … on proper paper … with a brush … and know what you’re doing!
